CTC Partners With Seyfo Center To Expand Assyrian Genocide Curriculum
We are thrilled to inform you that, the California Teachers Collaborative for Holocaust and Genocide Education, a statewide partnership of educators, organizations, and genocide survivors dedicated to combating antisemitism and hate through comprehensive Holocaust and genocide education in California schools is now partnered with Seyfo Center to help expand and promote Assyrian genocide curriculum in California.
Founded in 2021 by the JFCS Holocaust Center in San Francisco, the Collaborative is supported by the California Department of Education, Marin County Office of Education, and the State of California.
California was the first state to mandate Holocaust and genocide education in 1985 and is now systematizing teacher training through this initiative. The Collaborative provides Common Core–aligned curricula for grades 6–12, teacher workshops, and digital resources, while working closely with the Governor’s Council on Holocaust and Genocide Education to ensure continued statewide impact.
In late April, the Seyfo Center, Arizona Chapter began communications with the Collaborative, through extensive efforts of the Assyrian Foundation of America, an organization dedicated to sponsoring and promoting educational, cultural and humanitarian programs for the Assyrian people. After months of discussions and meeting the Collaborative’s rigorous criteria, Seyfo Center was officially welcomed as a new partner on September 17, 2025.
This partnership marks a major step forward for the Assyrian community in California. The Collaborative will assist Seyfo Center in expanding its curriculum to align with the California Department of Education’s standards for Holocaust and genocide education.
