Dear Friends,
As many of you know, Seyfo Center has been working diligently and tirelessly towards the international recognition of the Genocide and ethnic cleansing committed against the Assyrians (also known as the Syriacs and Chaldeans), which is still going on.
In our attempt to raise awareness for the Assyrian genocide, we have been actively working in several fields:
- We have a large pool of sources and provides research assistance to scholars, writers, journalists, filmmakers and government agencies.
- We document the Assyrian Genocide by collecting oral history and endorsing written evidence.
- We present the Assyrian Genocide in parliaments and government bodies.
- We educate non-Assyrians in political and academic forums.
- We participate in activism on behalf of the Assyrian people.
- We publish books, reports, brochures, and other means of media. Seyfo Center has published fourteen thousand copies of a small booklet, which was distributed free in many countries’ parliaments and institutions.
- We also do lobbying in European countries’ parliaments. ___________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________
What exactly is the Assyrian Genocide and Research Center ( Seyfo Center) doing? |
This year is the 103rd anniversary of the Assyrian Genocide. The government of Turkey continues to deny the fact and spends a lot of money every year to hide it. Turkey has its scholars, politicians, activists, and money working against this historical fact. In spite of that, we are very happy to tell you that we have achieved a lot in the last ten years in regards to raising awareness about the Assyrian Genocide. |
- On December 19th, 2007 the International Association of Genocide Scholars passed a resolution recognizing the Assyrian Genocide.
- On May 13th, 2009, a press conference took place in the Swedish Parliament, where a Kurdish intellectual named Berzan Boti apologized for the Genocide of 1915 and as an act of restitution, handed back his property to its rightful owners – The Assyrians. The deeds of his properties were then transferred to the Seyfo Center.
- On March 10th,2010, the Swedish Parliament recognized the Assyrian Genocide.
- Thanks to the Assyrian Universal Alliance (AUA) and the struggle demonstrate by the Assyrians in Australia, a monument has been erected on August 7th, 2010 in memory of the Assyrian victims of the Seyfo Genocide and the Simele
- On May 1st,2013, Australian Parliament of New South Wales (NSW) recognized the Assyrian and the Greek Genocides.
- On April 25th, 2012, the Assyrian Genocide monument was unveiled in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.
- On April 27th, 2013, the third Assyrian Genocide monument was unveiled in France.
- On August 4th, 2013, an Assyrian Genocide monument was unveiled in Belgium.
- On October 19th, 2014, An Assyrian Genocide monument was erected in Athens, Greece.
- Most recently the Seyfo Center and all of its local branches have participated in assisting our people in Syria and Iraq.
In 2010, the Swedish Parliament and City Council in Australia recognized the Assyrian Genocide: In 2015 the Republic of Armenia, the Netherlands, the Vatican, Austria and Germany, Syria and the Czech Republic have recognized the Assyrian genocide. Furthermore, two states of the United States of America, Iowa, and Indiana, have also recognized the Assyrian genocide. There are more countries and states that will follow suit. But we have to work very hard to achieve this.
SEYFO Center is active in several countries. Our success depends on our volunteers and supporters. We are working in several countries to erect monuments in order to raise awareness about the Assyrian Genocide. Unfortunately, this is not enough. To reach all our goals we need the more volunteers and financial support. While we are grateful to all those who have previously supported and funded this great cause, unfortunately, the struggle for recognition is far from over. We have very important objectives: to achieve them we need solid and consistent financial support. We know we can count on your support and thank you for your continued trust in us and our cause!
